Steel Player/Songwriters? R Mooney for one..
Artie Bechtel, a guitar player I've been working with from Bakersfield has been doing a song by Ralph Mooney called "Falling for You". He said Wynn Steward cut it years ago. Great song.
I'm aware of a couple by Jimmy Day.
Was wondering what other great songs have been written by Steel Players..

The moon wrote:
Foolin recorded by Johnny Rodriquez
Something Bout a Jukebox (J.R. I think??)
Fallin For You Recorded by Waylon, Wynn and others
Moonshine instrumental by Moon and James Burton.
And of course Crazy Arms which he still receives healthy royalty checks from after 50 years. Wish I could have one song like that. I wouldn't need this little bit of social security.
I'm not sure if thats all ... I'm not sure if Moon recalls any more. Regards, fred

Dickey Overbey wrote the title cuts from Jake Hookers latest CD "You Had A Call" and Justin Trevino"s newest CD " Scene Of the Crying". He also wrote the cut on Jake's CD " Yours and His." There are others that Dickey wrote that I can't remember the title for sure, and who recorded them.
Dickey, if your are reading maybe you can jump in here and tell us the list of songs you have penned.

Jimmy wrote a tune called Bring Me My Memories in Person that Cal Smith cut for one, and a great tune that Jimmy Dickens cut called My Eyes Are Jealous. Faron originally cut You Had a Call on the Unimitgated Gall album, great song.
[This message was edited by Eddie Lange on 18 November 2002 at 09:44 PM.]

Jimmy Day also wrote a song cut by Conway Twitty entitled "I Think, I Hope, I Wish."

I wrote several in the 40’s and 50’s. Two were recorded the RCA label and two on the King Records label. The only one that sold enough to pay my royalties in cash (as opposed to postage stamps) was “Crazy Waltz” recorded by Pee Wee King, Helen O’Connell, Gazelle McKinsey and Dave Cavanaugh’s orchestra.
