Jimmy Melton"s whereabouts?

Post by Earl Yarbro »

Anyone from Nashville or Henderson know where Jimmy is located and what he is doing. He was Banjo and dobro player from Henderson, then went to Nashville and I heard he was writing some pretty good songs. I met him when he was on tour in Texas playing the banjo. He was 11 years old then.

Earl, Jimmy usually calls me to play steel when he books a job somewhere. He's writing in Nashville and is doing well. I saw him about a month ago. He came to the Station Inn when the Time Jumpers had their album release party and Eddie Stubbs did his show from there. He called me for a job in Jackson over Labor Day weekend, but I couldn't go because of the St. Louis convention. He's got a good band, and plays banjo and guitar and fronts the band. A really good entertainer and a really down to earth guy.

Thanks for getting back with me. Joan, when you see him, tell him it is good to hear of his success, and if he ever gets down toward Bowie, Tx, to give me a call. I would like to visit with him. His group put on a show here when he was 11 years old, his bass player was a former paratrouper buddy of mine. His family were great people.
regards,

Earl
