George Jones

Post by winston »

Last night I played in a band that fronted George in Brooksville, Ky. The best thing about the experience was meeting Tom Killon?, the steel player. A finer person you would never meet. Between sets he gave me pointers and showed me a few things. The band sounded great but I was a little surprised to see that George uses a telepromter. I guess with that many hits it is hard to remember the words to them. I just wanted everyone to know how nice Tom is. If you ever see George just go up and say hi to Tom and ask to see his Emmons.

I suppose teleprompters are becoming common with those that can afford them.

I saw the Rolling Stones the other night and they had teleprompters. No steel, but it was a club gig.

Just curious---did Tom ever get the spotlight on any of his intros or rides ? He sure didn't at The Grand Palace in Branson three weeks ago. - Image

Bill, Yes he did. George really featured his band and the lite man actually knew the difference between the steel and keyboard. The sound man knew the difference too.

George will be 71 in Sept or Oct. I'll be 71 in March and I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

When you see George without his prompter, he will look over to Ron Gaddis, his front man and bass player if he forgets. I don't know how long Gaddis has been with Jones, but i've heard he was born in one of his guitar cases. Ron, Ron, I'm just joking. Are you still playing that brand X Bass?.
