Who's Teaching Steel in Portland, OR?

Post by Adrian Wulff »

The pedal steel player in my band is looking for a teacher in the Portland/Vancouver area. He's been playing about four years and would like to move up to the next level. Any suggestions? Thanks!

And if you have x-ray vision, you can watch the technique we all here in Big Poodle have drooled over for years that's hidden behind a quite well constructed music stand..

There's a 500$ hit out on it.

You can also hear the most hard earned telecaster licks from a young fella that I bashed the hell out of musically for a couple years. Larry has "gentle broke" him in the last few. The one to whom I replied, when he asked me which Tele I prefered, answered that it was like the Dentist asking which drill I liked the most.

That'd be Al Jones.

He's earned his fine chops the hard way. He's the one with the fetching feathered boa on the "chicks set".

Seriously though. Check the band out. I think they are one of the best Portland has to offer. Larry and Al are the bright spots to be sure.

Tell them Old Eric sent you.

I'm about to kick the old Panhead over and head down there to see who's there tonite. It'll be parked over the oil spots out front.

If you're there in 20 minutes, I'll be the one with the oily old jeans.

A lot of good players in the Portland area. Another possibility to contact is Dean Rankin in Vancouver. If you need conact info, E-mail me. And let us not forget Rudy Alexander, Jim Burrell, and Dale Granstrom.
[This message was edited by Pat Goodbla on 22 June 2002 at 07:07 AM.]

[This message was edited by Pat Goodbla on 22 June 2002 at 07:09 AM.]

Adrian, I will be in Portland until the end of July; if there's anything I can do to help your steel player friend, please let me know.

Adrian...by way of earlier posts on the subject of steel guitar teaching....at least one person on this fine list "does it for free".
A great picker I might ad. (By no means am I making any reference to me but thanks to Rick, just the same)
