Played in honor of Dean Forshee this afternoon

Post by Marc Friedland »

This afternoon I played a gig at a Music in the Park event in Concord, CA. During sound check the promoter, Joe Ocean, came over when he heard the sound of the psg. He said this was the first time a pedal steel was used in one of their shows since Dean played there with one of his bands. He believed that it was one of Dean's last performances. He said, let's dedicate today's show to Dean's memory. There was no formal announcement made, but in my mind I was remembering what Joe said. For those of us that remember Dean, this is a chance to think of him again. -- Marc

Too cool Marc... Dean was a great guy.

I'll never forget going to his memorial service and seeing his steel setup to the side of the band by itself. That image will be burned into my mind forever.

b0b - thanks for the link, I never realised it had been so long back since the tragedy.

Dean sure came over as one of the best kinda guys to know.

I didn't know Dean and I don't think I ever interacted with him on the forum but for reasons I don't understand and won't question I was affected by his loss. It had some kind of meaning for me at the time and it just is what it is. Thanks for the post, Marc.

I took lessons from Dean for a short while. I had lost contact with him for a while and meant to get in contact with him but I kept putting it off. Unfortunately I saw his picture in the Contra Costa Times in the days after the crash and never had the opportunity to meet up with him again.

My message to everyone out there is to make sure you let your friends and loved ones know how you feel about them and don't take your relationships for granted.

I never met Dean but we talked a time or two on the phone and had arranged a deal for a trade here on the forum. It no doubt was the last trade he made here at least. Dean was going snorkeling on his trip and would see what he had traded for when he got back. When I heard the plane had went down I knew he never saw what he'd traded for. His posts are missed here I'm sure by more than myself.

I only met Dean a few times. He was a great guy. Like Richard, I was at the memorial service, and it was truly heartwarming to see the turnout. Good to hear about the "memorial concert" Marc.
