What's happening?

Post by Johan Jansen »

Since January of 1997, The Steel Guitar Forum has been bringing steel players together in a spirit of friendship and a common love of the instrument.
Where are our ethics? This world uphere seems to get tougher and hardened by the week.I'm so sorry to conclude this..maybe it's only my idea.. sorry for the misunderstanding on that case..

Can't help noticing some mud-slingin'again.
Please, please, think before acting.
I is soooo easy to hurt, but soooo hard to hold back. Don't let anger rule your mind, you get poisened yourself, and nobody will be helped by your words. I'm so sorry to read some threads about bad bussiness, and yes, I get all the stories too by mail. I think everybody deserves a second chance, maybe a third or more. Let us not be a judge, but,,,,,
respect!!
Thanks for reading,

I agree, I have been a member for over four years an the tone has certainly changed. I know that a lot of our hero's read the fourm every day, but won't ever put there 2 cents in for fear of makeing any body upset. We have grown, but we seem to have lost, some of our kindness. Jerry

Johan,
A man who has expressed himself very well
on the Forum, and who exhibits a great
and true heart.
All I can offer you, and I am as much a culprit as the next person, is that MANY of us are spending way too much time on the Forum.
If you really have something to contribute, or, have a bugaboo, then this is what I feel the Forum is all about.

Other than that, get practicing. Get playing.

HEY! - "Life Is Short"! Make the best of it.

Johan, your insight is quite correct. The Forum is, to a large extent, a mirror or guage of our overall society...a barometer, if you will. No, things aren't quite what they used to be. Tempers are quicker, people are eager to speak out, and any type of hurt or indignation seems magnified, all since September, last. However, considering that we lost about twice as many people in the attacks last year as we did at Pearl Harbor, I think we still show remarkable restraint. Things will return to normal...in good time. Until then, let's try and make the best of it. The communication here on the Forum is quite free and unique, and it's often been said that "it takes all kinds", or something to that effect. From time to time, there will be outbreaks of rage or hostility, but we should keep in mind the overall goal here is to share, to entertain, to learn, to inform, to grow, and to accept. We're still doing that.

Indeed, the whole world might do well to engender these few precepts, don't you think?

Well, I for one, did not engage in any sort of demagoguery in my reply to Hap. I was merely offering first hand experience. Last year, I felt very bad indeed, about having to post my dirty laundry on here. I still do. It was as a last resort. I do find it ironic however, that the most venomous posts came from guys who do not use their real names. It's a tough call, but I feel we are all better off in the long run knowing who is good to do business with.

I thought people are supposed to use their real names in posts? I know that I come off as an idiot sometimes, but that's ok, I'm comfortable with being an idiot. Sometimes I just gotta let out my inner moron (intentionally or not, he comes out every so often!!).
