The Steel that got away
I guess every musician has had a guitar that they either had to sell or sold just because. Lets hear about the ones that got away from you that you wish you still had. Mine was my 10 string Ricky lap steel. Found it though and nows shes home safe. Felt like a friend came home the day UPS rolled up with her too.

I sold a beautiful Gibson Byrdland guitar for $500.00 and I traded a super clean wonderful sounding blackface Fender twin for a Kustom blue sparkle rolled & pleated amp that sounded terrible but looked kool.
That was about 28 years ago when I was young & stupid. I still slap myself every now & then when I think about it.

Young & Dumb. In 1973 I bought a brand new Fender Tele ThinLine with straight Tele P/Us
A well respected player came into the club set in on my ax & said it was the worst sounding & playing Fender he ever played. Being kind of star struck the next day I went & traded it for a Tele custom That I never did like. A couple of weeks later I happened to play this guys guitar at a jam session & I swear It had to be the hardest playing guitar I ever had in my hands & his humbucking completely overrode the bridge P/U.
As I said young & dumb Hope someone is playing the fire out of that little great sounding & playing ThinLine.

Bought new Fender "Strat" in 1956. Hocked it for $60.00 in New Orleans in 1964. bought new Gibson blond thin hollow body guitar ( dont know model # ) in 1957, dont even remember what happened to it. Sold Sho-Bud LDG that I bought new in 1978. I'd like to know what the Strat and Gibson are worth now. Stupid, dumb, idiot kid.

In '93 I stayed for six months with my big brother (he's 15 years older) in Texas. During that time I made a dream come true and bought a sparkling new Fender Jazz Bass that was PERFECT. I had to sell it a few years ago 'cause "I needed the money". The guy who bought it was obviously an idiot with no respect for instruments. That's the fact that hurts me most.

When I got my first pedal steel (Sho-Bud Pro III) I thought I had to get rid of my Fender T3 Stringmaster. What a mistake! I tried to buy it back a few years later and found out that the owner had been involved in an accident with his van and one neck on the T3 was busted up. So much for that!
Uff-Da!
