Can anyone tell me who the steel player on this cut by I think, Don Adams was? Does this style of playing have a name?

Thanks Larry. I have only heard the one version on a (cascade) release so I assume that must be it....very fine sounding band and mighty fine steel.

The Steel Player on Don Adams version of "Big Town Baby" would be me. His brother Gary Adams was also on the session playing guitar. Approximate year of recording was 1965.

Thanks!

Yo'Doug, long time no see.Hope you are doing well.Stacey and I were just talking about you last night over dinner. Image
Remember those sessions we did up in Philly around 1966 when you were stationed at Ft. Dix? I still have some copies of those 45's we did for Chestnut Records. Image
[This message was edited by Earl Erb on 19 April 2002 at 08:27 PM.]

Thank's Doug,

1965! I was exactly zero years old! What a marvelous group. One never tires of that sound. Can you tell me if any other recordings of that band were released and if they are still available?

Best,
Jimmy

Jimmy, I did play on another album with Don Adams around the early 70's, I beleive the record label was Atlantic, however I don't recall the title of the album. Don's brother Gary was also on the record. Buddie Spicher and Johnny Gimble were on the album too. As I recall Weldon played on a couple cuts also.
Thanks again--Doug

Hi Earl:
I sure do remember those sessions in Philly.
I would like to get a copy of your album. I heard a couple of cuts while I was out doing a Steel Guitar show last year. You are playing better than ever. I hope to hear from you soon Earl---Doug

Thank's Doug,
I will keep a lookout for those albums, sometimes those older "Western" releases turn up in the record shops here in Tokyo.

Best,
Jimmy

Hi Doug, I am flattered that you liked my CD. I'll make sure you get a copy. Maybe someday we might get to pick together but I doubt my level of playing is up to yours. I have a copy of your Jernigan Jazz CD and it is wonderful. ImageI didn't know you and the Adams boys went so far back in time.Gary is one of my favorite guitar players. Image
