March 6 Happy Birthday Buddy Charleton!!!

Post by wayne yakes md »

Happy birthday Buddy!! You are truly legendary for inventing with the great Leon Rhodes "Cowboy Jazz". I still remember after your set in St.Louis, Mrs.Bobby Garrett(Pat) said, "No need to hear anymore here. We can all go home now!" You share this birthday with the Renaissance Master Michaelangelo, the great Bob Wills and jazz guitar legend Wes Montgomery. I still remember our dinner together with Kay Lee in Virginia celebrating our birthday. Your favorite thing that night was the chicken fingers!! We ALL love you!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Happy Birthday Buddy, and all the best!!!
In case you actually read this, I´m not one of the old-timers, I only switched to steel a short time ago after many years of standard guitar. I have most of your recordings with the Texas Troubadours and I really DIG that stuff. You know what I thought the very first time I listened to your playing, " So that´s what it SHOULD sound like...!"
I really hope to be able to meet you and take some lessons from you some day.
Again, have a great Birthday and many more.

Michaelangelo shares your birthday today. Creating the "Pieta" at age 23 launched his career as an artist to be known thru the ages. You launched your international career with ET when you were 23 and as long as a steel guitar is played you will be known thru the ages as a giant of the instrument!! You share so much with Michaelangelo!

Happy Birthday Buddy. I saw you in Fort Smith, Arkansas when you had just joined Earnest Tubb. You had only been with the
Troubadours a few weeks and several of the guys told me you were going to be a great one and were even comparing you to the big "E". That was huge shoes to fill and you did it very nicely. You showed me the 3rd fret bar hop solo to "Thru That Door".

Happy Birthday Mr. Charleton. I will always remember the grin(ear to ear smile) on Bobby Caldwell's face when you kicked Another Bridge To Burn in St. Louis last year. Great stuff! I can hear ET say it now....."Ahh Buddy Now".... Image Have a great birthday!
