Ralph lives in a suburb of Ft. Worth, TX. I think he is only playing an occasional show and at church. He was on a Country music revue show in Weatherford, TX. a few months ago. I missed it, but heard he was still THE MAN! I'm with you, I love to hear Moon play. Best Regards.

Ralph lives in Kennydale, Tx., a Ft. Worth,Tx, suburb. As has been said, he plays in church and on select shows. Occassionally, Fred Jack lures him down to Southeast,Tx.(Bay City) and a good time is had by all. Don't try to call him on the phone until you check with Fred Jack and find out the weird hours he keeps. Hope to see everyone in Dallas. Jody.

Thanks Jody, I forgot, Yessterday I kept thinking Ralph lived in Lake Worth, but you are right it IS Kennedale. I wish I knew WHICH church he played in, I might join so I can here Moon play once a week. What a nice guy to. He played a few times where my Sister goes to church in Burleson, TX. a few years back, It was COOL! Thanks again, Bill

Yup Moon be da man.Lately I've been wearing out my Wynn Stewart records trying to wrap my brain around those bluesy Cajun licks he plays.What a stylist! BTW,does anybody have his copedant handy? I seem to remember it's an E6/9 w/only one chromatic and a low E but I think I'm hearing some pulls I'm not sure are on a standard E9. -MJ-

Michael, I was privaledge to see Ralph in St. Louis a few years ago. He was in the room where they had used Steel Guitars for sale. I didn't recognize him as he had shaven the beard off. He was tap dancing on the peddles with both feet. I have never seen anyone else do it and I asked who it was (stupid me). Winnie Winston has a copedant and explantion in his book "Pedal Steel Guitar" pg. 124 if you can borrow a copy. I'm not sure wheather it is still in print. C.W. 1975

I finally looked it up in an old issue of Tom Bradshaw's short lived Steel Guitar Magazine from 1980 or so.Kind of an E13b5. He actually has NO chromatics and a C#,an A# and a low E in the lower register.Besides that,the main difference is he pulls his high E up to F# by itself on a pedal and he pulls his two G#s to A on two seperate pedals.Also he lowers the high G# to G on a seperate pedal so he can have one G# go up and the other one go down and that's how he gets that cool A7th chord.Hmmmm....maybe I should string my Fender 800 up like that,break out the Twin and see if it makes me sound like Ralph. -MJ-

Hello! I tried to post yesterday only to discover after I had written an extra long ( too long ) post that my machine had forgot my name and password. Since I had forgot them too I got p.o'd and did something else. I was just going to say that Moon is going to Branson this week end. I pick him up tomorrow night and we'll come home Monday and I'll have a good time. He does play in church but not regular. He does some area churchs from time to time.He is a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Arlington and does attend very regular. He has a good relationship with the Lord! I see him pretty often and when we get together we try to record at least one tune and sometimes more. I have a good collection started. We haven't got the "hit" yet but some of them sure have been. We both have cabin fever and are really looking forward to this weekend. He called earlier tonite and said Gene Fields had called and said the show may be cancelled but Tom Brumley phoned me a few minutes ago and said "No Way! The show is on!" So any of you people who make it to Branson give the Moon a holler. He sure gets a bang out of what I show him on this machine. regards, fred

Did you mean South Lake?. That's south of Fort Worth and where Reece used to live, but he moved way over to Keller. I have a daughter and her family that lives there. You don't think of humid when you think of Texas, but that area sure Is.

Mr. Moon lives in Kennedale, southeast of Fort Worth. Southlake is south of Grapevine lake and northeast of Fort Worth.
