Steel Player singing

As a steel player, do you find it hard to sing with a steel player?

It's hard to sing without one. Might as well fish without a hook.

But, could a player just shy of horrid make it tough on a vocalist? We know that, don't we?

What about singing while John Hughey is backing you up? Would it be distracting?
