Microsoft Updates Coming on July 11, 2006
On 11 July 2006 Microsoft is planning to release:
Security Updates
. Four Microsoft Security Bulletins affecting Microsoft Windows.
The highest Maximum Severity rating for these is Critical. These
updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security
Analyzer and the Enterprise Scan Tool. Some of these updates will
require a restart.
. Three Microsoft Security Bulletins affecting Microsoft Office.
The highest Maximum Severity rating for these is Critical. These
updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security
Analyzer. These updates may require a restart.
Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool
. Microsoft will release an updated version of the Microsoft
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool on Windows Update, Microsoft
Update, Windows Server Update Services and the Download Center.
Note that this tool will NOT be distributed using Software Update
Services (SUS).

You can find out if you need office updates for Works by running Microsoft Update, instead of Windows Update. There is a button option on Windows Update to try the other system. If you agree to the EULA and allow the ActiveX control to install, then run Microsoft Update, you will see any applicable patches for Works listed, in either Express or Custom updates searches.
Note that accepting the use of Microsoft Updates still allows you to continue to use Windows Updates instead, if you so choose. The difference is that Microsoft Updates adds Office and Windows Defender to it's catalog.

Hey guys, I suggest setting a new restore point in your Windows XP computers before you install ttoday's Windows Updates, just in case...
