Another Beef With WMP (any version)
Where can you check off something that will keep WMP from adding stuff to the LIBRARY, it seems, after you have played a "new" file(s).
WMP hangs onto EVERYTHING.
I finally was able to take those 13/14 CDs and rip them to a special folder. Fine. I then went into WMP and clicked on the 14 "unknown albums" and deleted ALL. Guess What. THEY'RE BACK!!
And another thing that happened, was I had 1 specific folder playing, and somehow other songs from the library got introduced into this specific list as it was being played.
I don't want WMP amassing every friggin' audio file I have on my PC into their library. Not only is it redundant to me, but it's got to be adding MBs up the ying-yang.
I simply want to pick something I wish to hear that's on my hard drive, play it on WMP, and then be done with it. I don't go for this storing songs. It's too confusing. I know where all my song files are. That's all I need to know.
I want to house clean WMP. Period.
Someone please help me, before I reach for the gun.
Thanks all.

Chip;
Open WMP and mouseover the titlebar until the menubar displays. Click on Tools, then Options. The option you want to uncheck is on the "Player" tab: "Add music files to library when played." There are more options for you in the "Library" tab.

Wiz is correct; Dave - well, you may have to re-evaluate.
I'm just getting in. Been out since 10:00AM [after I ran RM.]
Listening now to a CD with WMP, and I DELETED every album and folder I could find this morning, and ran WMP right after that, and all deletions remained. And still do, now.
I did not try to figure anything out in RM, and just let the program do it's thing.
I'll tell ya, I'm one happy camper. The loss of perkiness and response in the PC really is subtle. But like I said in the other post, you start to realize this thang ain't workin' quite like it did.
$29.95 well spent. And Wiz, good buddy, I'll be signing up for TrojanHunter, when the clock runs out.
And, GHEEZ, how did all this Internet invectiveness escalate to such a point where we all have to buy [or use shareware], download, and maintain updates, just to keep these contraptions running well??
Kind of takes the fun out of the whole deal, ya think?
