Wordpad is an ASCII (plain text) basic wordprocessor program. I doubt that it had anything to do with the web site, since it's HTML language.

More likely your web host zapped something or a hacker got into it and zapped it.

Fortunately you have a back up of the web site so you can upload and restore it (right?). Go in, delete everything and then upload the backup to restore it. If it's really bad you may have to have the web site host clear it out and reset it so you can upload to it.

ADDED: Another thought, if WordPad is coming up when you try to access the web site (for whatever reason) all you will get is garbage. Make sure your browser is accessing the site.
[This message was edited by Jack Stoner on 03 August 2005 at 07:05 AM.]

Now THAT was quick! Thanks Jack! No,I don't have a backup...I can't get into the site to delete it...guess I'll have to call Comcast and get them to clean up the mess...thanks for your help!Garbage is EXACTLY what I'm getting...I didn't like to think someone hacked it,but you are probably right...I can think of at least one likely candidate...
[This message was edited by Steve Hinson on 03 August 2005 at 07:10 AM.]

Not true. WordPad is an RTF editor. RTF is Rich Text Format, the ancestor of Microsoft Word's "doc" format.

Microsoft's ASCII editor is called Notepad.

If you upload files with the .doc extension to your website and you don't have Word on your system, your browser will probably try to open them in WordPad.
