Let's say I had this book and I wanted to make .pdf files of each page for future reference. I have a recent vintage HP scanner (as in TWAIN), USB interface, etc. What's the best, or most convenient software to use to drive the scanner and create the file(s)?
Thanks for all recommendations.
(Any relationship between this duplication and steel guitars is purely coincidental.)

Ray, I have been using scanners for years and years and have scanned hundreds of thousands of pages for attorneys that I work for. Most all of them use Scansoft Paperport. The new version of Paperport has the ability to save all of your files to pdf format. Paperport will probably cost you between 100 and 150 dollars but its well worth it if you are going to be doing a lot of scanning.

If your scanner uses the "HP photo and imaging director" program, just click on "scan document". The files will be saved in .pdf. One thing to be careful with, if you scan many pages at a time before saving, and your computer hangs up while saving, all the pages will have to be rescanned. I'd do 10 or 12 pages at a time.
