Today my computer made a sound, like a London Bobbie,s car...Bee-Boo, Bee-Boo, till I rebooted, then a couple minutes it started again. I did a system restore back to 05/17/05, hasen't did it yet, been on for about ten min. It had been on for several hours, turned it off for about two hours. It was in the inside, unplugged speakers, continued to beep,Windows XP Pro. Thought it may have been the modum, did it when I dialed up, but been online about 15 min, nothing yet. Any ideas?

Sometimes dial-up modems emit peculiar sounds which I think have something to do with temporary miscommunications with the ISP. If it isn't something that happens regularly and everything seems to working o.k I wouldn't worry about it.
It may also be a 'beep code' alert which is a system used by the motherboard manufacturers to identify particular problems with your system. (ie. maybe your brand of motherboard emits two longs beeps to indicate low voltage to the processor...or a long and a short to warn of overly high cpu temperature. ...whatever) If you know what make and model the motherboard is you can often get a list of beep codes from their websites. Some owners manuals list them as well. If the sound is well defined and exactly the same pattern each time you hear it then it's probably a beep code. <font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Bill Miller on 25 March 2005 at 06:06 PM.]</p></FONT>
