To tape from amp

When using the "To tape" jack from my amp, does the target tape recorder, record my steel sounds with my amp settings, or are they bypassed?

Depends on the amp.....

Some vendors have a "line out" jack from the pre-amp only. Others have a L-pad stright off the speaker leads,resulting in a output using all EQ and effects going to the speaker.

This is a difficult question to answer....

I'll have to record the sound and change the controls to see if they effect the "tape out" signal.

Another question;
My 4 track Tascam Porta-studio has a 4 band equalizer for each channel.

When I adjust the equalizer controls while recording music "in", I can hear the changes through my headset, but does the Tascam record the signal like I hear it through the headset after I have made adjustments to the equalizer? Or does it record the incoming signal as it recieves it?

Maybe I should have said. Are the equalizers only effective with the Tascam "out" jacks?

I can't find an answer in the manual.
