Chris Rea Passed Away

Post by Craig Stock »

Sad to share that the great Chris Rea has passed away at age 74.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertai ... 882231007/

Chris had pancreatic cancer at age 33, but had the Whipple surgery and survived. a very small percent ever survive. A good friend of mine had the same procedure and survived, he said he's in the 3% of survivers.

I thought Chris flew under the radar for most of his career, but never the less he was one of my favorites.

His song 'Driving home for Christmas' is also a favorite Christmas song of mine.

Condolences to his wife, kids and family, RIP Chris
Regards, Craig

I cried because I had no shoes, then I met a man who had no feet.

RIP Chris Rea.
He was such a skilled slide player. His lyrics on songs like Road To Hell and You Must Be Evil also meant a lot to me.

Yes, Joachim, he had so many great songs, back in the 80's he had a great album called 'New Light through Old Windows' that was more like smooth Jazz but was really big here in the US in that realm.

He never really toured here in the US, so I didn't get to see him. Yes, his slid playing was really good, he loved the blues!

One of my favorite songs was 'Texas' as well as 'Fool if you think it's Over'.
Regards, Craig

Graig, my good friend Dieter was his biggest fan. He watched Chris Rea perform a couple of times here in Germany. He was a flight teacher and lost his life when the plane crashed in the City of Speyer about twenty-five years ago.

I have a dvd of a movie that Chris starred in. He really was very good actor, without even trying. Look it up, it's a comedy of sorts.

I'll always tear up when the Heaven is played.

I’m sorry to hear this. My favorite song was, on the beach.
