Weird Version of "He Stopped Loving Her Today"
There's a version of "He Stopped Loving Her Today" out there. The song starts out pretty traditional straight up country. When it gets to the Chorus, (He stopped loving.....) the song completely changes gear and has this kind of a Punk Rock Rhythm combined with a lot of shouting. It was on Sirius XM around 2010 give or take a few years. I'm guessing it still gets played some. I was trying to explain it to a friend but I could not find it on the Internet by my description in the browser.
Anyone by chance heard that version and know the name of the band who played that version? If you ever heard it, for sure you'd know which song I'm referring to. I wondered who played steel on it cause the guy did a pretty decent job of the traditional part. It really wasn't a great song but the chorus really threw me when I first heard it. I suppose you could say It was almost satirical or maybe just someone's idea of "art". It's not about being good or bad though, just an interesting take on that song. I just never caught the name of the band who did it.
Thanks
Barry

I was telling someone that would be a fun song for a DJ to use at a party or wedding. Tell people that during the "traditional" part, the young kids HAVE to dance like the old folks are. And during the wild chorus, the old folks HAVE to bounce around like the youngsters are.

Don, thanks so much. That was exactly what I was looking for with no luck. Like I said I’m not sure how good or bad I think the song is, but it is different. I like different!!!

It's the "Circus".
Circus is the "greatest show on earth" for a reason. The circus with show you; that you can see and hear things that grab your attention immediately; because it's something you don't normally hear or see in Life.
That is why those Weirdos do that to Songs> PERIOD!!! It's a "SHOCK" to the ears and eyes; Therefore you are entertained by the Circus.

I have zero issues with this outlaw medley of She Stopped Loving Her Today and Prince's Purple Rain. And no whining about no pedal steel - it's out front, loud and proud. Actually, I think Purple Rain works well in this context. How have I not heard of this guy (Jackson Taylor)?
On the tune in the opening post - seems fairly mild in comparison to something Hank III might do. He normally puts the traditional country in the first set, and then warns anybody that is expecting more of the same that they might want to leave.
