Warning - potential scam alert

Post by Dave Mudgett »

I'm putting this here temporarily to give a wide view.

There is a For Sale thread here from "Mark Draycott" - viewtopic.php?p=3220416

I added a link there to Mark Draycott's obit in Gone Home from 2022, and thus there is obvious concern that the "Mark Draycott" account has been hacked.

I will allow some possibility that this thread was posted by a member of Mark's family. However, any posting under someone else's name is generally forbidden here. There are a couple of exceptions (well known players whose spouse posts under the players' name). However, in general, we require any member wanting to sell a family members' gear to set up their own account.

I'm leaving the "Mark Draycott" account open long enough to give a family member a chance to respond to this inquiry. If this poster is, in fact, a family member, then you should email or PM me and/or admin@steelguitarforum.com

It appears that this was a true scam attempt. Details on the for sale thread listed above - viewtopic.php?p=3220517

The Mark Draycott account has been suspended. In case you get an email from anybody claiming to be Mark Draycott, you should not deal with them.
