Does Wynonna Judd carry a steel player on the road?
She is scheduled to do a show in my area on July 11th.
Pondering whether or not I should purchase a ticket. Very few pedal steel guitarists working around these parts with any regularity.

I bet you miss a lot of really good performers. Wy puts on a great show. There also isn't a lot of steel guitar in Judds music.Jack Hanson wrote:Thanks, Brett & Steve. Guess I'll hafta pass on the Ski-Hi Stampede. No steel = no chance.

My first country concert in 1996 as a teenager was Blackhawk opening for Wynonna. Wynonna didn't use steel then, but I thought she did a wonderful show, and Blackhawk was great too! In the nineties, a lot of my favorite bands didn't feature the steel guitar, but they were still great bands. When I first heard Wynonna's solo songs, I wasn't sure what to think because I loved hearing her sing with Naomi in the eighties, with Sonny Garrish's steel work on their records, but the more I listened to her solo stuff, I became a fan. Before playing steel with Wynonna on her tour, Tommy Hannum had been Ricky Van Shelton's steel player, then by 2007 or 2008, he had played steel with Clay Walker
