Cloth covered shielded cable for lap steel.

Post by Frank James Pracher »

When fixing up old lap steels they sometimes have an attached cable... I know I could modify them for a standard 1/4 plug, but I try to keep them as original as possible.

Does anyone know of a source for cloth covered shielded cable?

It doesn't necessarily have to be cloth covered but It would nice for esthetic reasons...

The cable itself is about 3/16 in diameter.

Thanks in advance!

Frank James -

I have some recently purchased cloth covered guitar cable (with plug on each end) for use with lap steels..... to go from the lap steel to amp

Could something like that be modified to meet your needs?

I've thought about using a cloth cord and that may be an option, but the ones I've seen are a bit bigger in diameter and I'm trying to avoid enlarging the hole in the body.

Here one alternative:

You might also consider stripping the cloth covering from reproduction lamp cord to cover a small shielded cable like Lawrence....JJ
