Jay Dee Maness w/Tony Booth

Post by Joe Shelby »

I haven't seen anything posted here about Jay Dee's work on six
Capitol albums released in the early to mid '70's, so I'd thought I'd give forum members a head's up on some really top shelf playing. There are no youtube postings of any of this stuff so you'll kind of have to take it on faith (besides knowing that Jay Dee is a great player) that these albums are really worth having.
The albums are available on Heart of Texas Records in two-fers:

The Key's In The Mailbox/Lonesome 7-7203 (HOTR 4147)
When A Man Loves A Woman/This Is Tony Booth (HOTR 4170)
Happy Hour/Workin' At The Car Wash Blues (HOTR 7328)

Jerry Brightman shares the steel chores on Workin At The Car Wash Blues.

I found these on ebay. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

Yeah Mike; I played that JD intro with Tony for few years when me and Miss Leslie subbed in with him around 2002-2010 ish.

I have always LOVED everything JD has played past and current.

LP jackets of the 6 records done by Tony Booth. Missing is his first lp on UNI Records which was put out as Johnny Booth - Country 67.

The last lp I have of his is an lp titled "On The Right Track", recorded on the MGM label in 1970.

As was common back in the 60's & 70's, there is no mention of the players on any of these records.
