Gilroy Hollister?

Post by Lee Barber »

Gilroy Hollister was putting out videos on YouTube for about the last 8 years and has disappeared for the last 2.
Anyone know him?
Is he Okay?

He did a great job on his videos and was very helpful.
Don't think he is a member of the forum.

Great videos from Gilroy Hollister Music.

It's possible that his name isn't Gilroy Hollister.

There are two small towns south of San Jose, CA very near each other.

The Gilroy / Hollister area.

Maybe his location? Just a WAG.

On word from a friend in Florida, that's not his real name, and he is a snow bird who stays south in the winter. Not sure why he hasn't posted for so long but I was told he is alive and well. That's all I know about him.

You are correct, Lee. I don’t know the guy personally, but Gilroy Hollister is most likely just a great stage name derived from the names of two neighbor towns in what used to be a rural area south of San Jose, CA.

Larry D is correct.

Gillroy is a "stage" name and he is a friend and neighbor of mine. He is very talented and plays multiple instruments. I would not be surprised if he turns out some new training material in the future. I will not divulge his real name as I respect his privacy.

Hi Lee.

I did get your email. I just talked to "Gilroy". We are planning to get together this weekend to jam around a bit and go over some possible new video material.

He should be able to get the recording end of it done when he goes back north for the summer.

Thats the status of any new videos as of this time.

Thank you.
I love his videos and just wondered if something happened to him or he just didn't have time. I know it takes a lot to do these. Tell him thanks from all those that watch his videos

Hi Lee, Doug and all interested.

I have spent some time hanging around and picking with "Gilroy". Snowbird season has come to an end though so it will be 7 months before we get to do it all over again.

We went over some interesting points in several songs but they were mainly just steel "parts" and such. We had a lot of fun though as he just purchased a new steel and we did a lot of experimenting with equipment setup and sound.

So the bottom line really comes down to this. What kind of material or songs do you want Gilroy to put on You Tube to work with? List it out here and he will see if he has time to work it up. He plays several times a week in his home area and leads a very active life. He has a great "laid" back teaching style and his material is designed for easy to understand playing.

Keep picking and learning.
