I really don't think anyone else could of play that incredible staccato rhythmic type walk up then Lloyd Green...but can't find the answer online so I emailed Lloyd and he'll tell me.

YES That is Lloyd Green.
He said:
I figured I would try the Grady Martin “May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose” echoplex sound… without an Echoplex…and up the scale instead of down the scale.
It worked pretty well for 1970, especially since I didn’t own an Echoplex.
He didn't say I can post that; but I thought that was the best explanation I've ever heard of coming up with something musically....ah...ha.....LOL
Love it.
Thanks Lloyd.

I'm hoping you mean "rhythmic" and not "rheumatic..."

adjective: relating to or caused by rheumatism.
"rheumatic pains"

noun: a person suffering from rheumatism.
"a sickly rheumatic"
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Thanks, Ricky -- great to hear it from Lloyd. I've been working on this ... the first part of the climb sounds like a tritone on strings 2 & 3, then it sounds like he's going to a 4th interval on those strings and finally to a 3rd. What do you think?

Herb -- You're too funny. These days "rheumatic" might be more appropriate! LOL!

Sorry Boo; don't get me trying to explain how Lloyd played something; I end up wrong every time; but he eventually tells me how he played something; and still turns out something I'm not coordinated enough to play...ah...ha...

Cripes! How the heck do you think of that with the clock running? And then credit the inspiration for it to a fellow picker. Lloyd is a giant of a musician AND person. I think that lick shows he knows more than a little bit about dogs too 😎

Wow, that's some powerful stuff. Lloyd is one of the best players ever and I always enjoy a good Paycheck song.

Definitely a wicked run and it really catches your attention. I'm not even trying to cop that lick. Lloyd is so awesome with his ideas and talents. Glad this came up because I wasn't familiar with this song.

Tell me about it. Trying to get Bars Of Steel right, but then I come to those wide grips that are almost impossible.

As others stated, it's the 1960s Little Darlin years of the Chicken Pickin style of Lloyd Green. He had a distinct style he used in that era. Always one of my favorite Steel Guitarist and a Hero of mine.

Hey Boo, did you end up sorting the intro out? This song came up for me recently and I added it to the 'gotta figure this one out' list.
Just killer playing throughout.
