Music near the Grand Ole Opry

Post by Michael Stover »

I'll be in Nashville on vacation next month. What are the cool music venues / restaurants in/near Opryland? I know about Broadway.... :|

Seems like every time I go, I find out after I leave that [famous steel player] played in some weird restaurant where the RVs are all parked!

It depends on what kind of music you're looking for.

Don’t miss the Music City Playboys with Rusty Danmeyer on steel at the Music City Grill. Eddie Lange on bass!

Best bet by far for country music is the Music City Bar and Grill. The Nashville Palace is more oriented in my experience to draw a crowd than to draw country music enthusiasts, but you might find a decent band there also.

My #1 place to hit is the American Legion on Tuesday night's. The Cowpokes play there every Tuesday. Best band in town! Andy Gibson is their steel player and he's just fantastic. Trust me in this one.

The Station Inn has music on Monday nights. When I was there a few weeks ago, Rusty Danmeyer was playing with Mo Pitney, Larry Cordle and the the band.
Nashville Palace has good music with Steel Guitar
Music City Bar & Grill is one of my favorites.. great pickers in there

Don't be dissuaded from checking out Broadway... there a a bunch of great players doing their thing there. You just have to be patient and find them.
