G.K. MB 200 repair?

Post by Marty Nemanick »

I have one that I keep in the truck as a spare amp, I decided to hook it up and play through it at rehearsal, when I turned it on it made some loud noises and quit working. I really don't understand as this amp probably has fewer than 8-10 hours on it. GK is only doing warranty repair so is this amp trash or is there a company who repairs them?

Thank you,

Marty

Many repair shops charge $50 per hour labor with 2 hours minimum. Consider that plus parts and its getting close to what its worth.

How old is the amp. Even though it only has 8-10 hours on it, if it’s say 10+ years old, the caps still degrade. You can take a filter cap new in the box and set it on the shelf for years and the value of it will change even without any use.

Most of the electronic gear made today is not easily serviced by the user. If you want to try to fix it yourself, I would first start with the power supply.

Thank Bill, the amp is about 6 years old, I removed the cover, these soldered components are tiny and I'm not an electronics tech so I tossed it. Not worth the time or expense to repair.
