finally pulled the trigger

after years of thinking about it , today I finally decided to do it , and gave a call to Barrett, a good buddy of mine working at the Guitar Center in Nashville, and asked him to hook me up with a nice Martin D28 , and he sure did … he had just what I was looking for , and it was waiting on me as I entered the store … guitar is all I was expecting it to be , gorgeous classic dreadnought look, easy to play , and fantastic tone with clear highs and full rich bass … came with a awesome Martin case as well … I have to say , it was a very nice day today

… this one will be going to Europe with me in the summer

thank you my friend , I’ve been dreaming about it for years , and there was always something else more important to take care of , today I finally bit the bullet , and got it … it will be my “forever” guitar… hand made in USA

Congratulations, Damir. Every picker needs at least one Martin, and to me the D28 is the ONE. My wife bought mine for me at Christmas 2007.

thanks guys , there is a lot of cheaper Asian knock offs , but Martin D28 you leave to your kids when you leave this world … it’s not just a guitar to me , it’s a Martin D28 … what sold me on this guitar is tone, looks, history , the fact that is hand made here in US , and of course Tony Rice

Damir, a hardy congrats Sir, enjoy that D28! I’ll assume you won’t be following in Millennials & Gen Zs footsteps by affixing a wireless or clip on mic, maybe even a pickup on your beautiful ax. So many accomplished pickers spend thousands on acoustic instruments, then plug in to sound just like a 1970s Ovation…

I've had my Martin since 1991 and continue to love it....Thank God the store I bought it from had just become a Martin dealer, I wasn't necessarily looking for one but.... I was buying their very first one sold.....got a good deal with a case thrown in.

You will enjoy yours for a very long time.

I still have my D18v from 1984. It was a gift from my girlfriend that led to a 32 year marriage. She passed away in 2016 but I will never part from that Martin or the joy they both brought me for so many years.

The holy grail! When I was in high school I bought a used one, a 1974 I think, for $300. I remember at the time all the old bluegrass pickers in my area telling me not to get it because it was “no good because it’s got that new wood in it”; a reference to the recent change from Brazilian to Indian rosewood. It’s held up quite well. My son “borrowed” it a few years ago and I need to get it back!

One thing about those Martins , they sure don’t depreciate over time , ones from 80’s and 90’s cost as much as new one , and if you go older than that , they get even more and more expensive , so I’m thinking , buying one of these things it’s like having a money in the bank …

Back in 1980, my ex-brother-in-law got behind on his child support, and I was rebuilding the collection after my own (second) dissolution of marriage. He had what was described as "an old Martin" that he didn't play anymore and wanted $400 for. We did the deal at my sister's house in Tucson, and when I got it home to Denver I found that it was a 1946 D-28. Needed a little TLC, but once it got the neck straightened out and new frets, it played just like it should, and still does.

you know, I understand the love, the d28 set the standard, but for me personally, I hated the D28 I had.. It was gorgeous-Dead mint condition, virtually unplayed,herringbone, I mean its a Martin D28 right??... that guitar never felt right to me,, I didn't like the way it played, and to my ears the sound on my Taiwan made Yamaha acoustic was a better.. by a LOT!... Guitars are individuals, I get that. My D28?... meh.

Traded a well used MSA Classic S10 straight up for it, and actually got more for the D28 than I could have for the MSA... I wanted to love that guitar, but it just didn't work for me the way they work for others... That being said, I have always liked other acoustics better than Martin anyway such as old Gibsons, or even some modern Taylors... I hope Damirs' D28 is everything he wants it to be.. Maybe one day, I'll play the right martin and try again... bob
