Too far to make out, but there's an emblem on the front of the steel similar to Joe Wright's. Then again it may be the Waylon logo, which opens up the possibility of Fred Newell or Robby Turner. It's definitely not Moon.

I'm pretty sure that's not Turner or Newell. I'm thinking Willie was singing with another act, not his band. Find out who was in a band called Cherokee Rose in 1986.

Farm Aid 1986 Steel Player On Willie Singing Frauluein

Post by Gene Kelley »

I know it was posted in 2022, but I missed it somehow when it was posted. I had some friends asking about the video of Farm AidII and I saw the post when I was surfing Farm Aid video 1986. The band is Cherokee Rose. We were the first band of the day The steel player was me on my black Waco MCI S10 3X4. Mine was the prototype. I think I put on the Farm Aid bumper sticker. I really don't remember. BTW, I still have the S10.
Thx for the shout out!!! Still playing when jobs come!
God Bless Gene Kelley
