Just rediscovered this gem from 1974. Great album with Mr. Kleinow, Josh Graves and David Lindley. â€œAnd The Timeâ€ starts at 9:15. Very reminiscent of the solo on Jackson Browneâ€™s â€œTake it Easyâ€.

These guys had a band called Mason Proffit from ‘69 through ‘73. They started a duo and this album was the last ‘Mason Proffit’ album to satisfy their Warner’s contract. They were country rock, and several ‘up and coming’ bands opened for them like the Doobies, John Denver and Steely Dan. Obviously had access to some great session cats.

"Two Hangmen, hanging from a Tree" was a Mason Profitt tune I always liked

Their vocal harmonies were always spot on - and backed by best studio musicians

I had most of the Mason Proffit in vinyl. I remember one of the brothers played an Emmons pp , I thought he was good. Check out Jewel and Hard Luck Woman.

Yes, John Michael Talbot plays Pedal Steel, I met him once when I was playing with "Bethlehem" at a Christian concert where He was performing as well.

They were as good as ANY of the country rock outfits of the 60's 70's and better than most.. They never got the national recognition they deserved... bob

I was (and still am) a fan of Mason Profit. They were popular in the Midwest back around ‘69 - ‘70 timeframe. They frequently played at Dex Card’s Wild Goose in the Chicago suburbs. It was an outdoor concert venue that introduced many high-schoolers to some great up and coming bands. Lots of good musical memories.

I discovered a few years back that I could get their albums on CD, so I replaced the vinyls. Great stuff.
