Danny Mohammed?

Post by Brett Hansen »

Can anybody tell me what model Emmons Danny plays? I've seen him a few times and his tone is just perfect.

I believe he has a mid 70’s Push Pull Emmons and a LeGrande 3 which is his blue guitar. He is a very knowledgeable pedal steel guitarist and an approachable musician. I saw him recently myself and walked away impressed and inspired!
I thought Nashville was the roughest, but I know I’ve said the same about them all.
I received my education, drivin through the Nation listenin to Paul!.. ( Franklin that is! )

The one I have seen him play is a woodgrain colored one, never seen the blue one. It has a screw on badge not a decal like a PP. He is amazing indeed.

When did they go from the brown and white die-cast badges to the black and white plastic ones?

I saw Danny in April playing on lower Broadway he had a cut-tail push pull into a Peavey with some kinda Zoom multi pedal. He sounded awesome and we talked a lot. He even came across the street to see our band. Great guy, great player.

That's what I was afraid of. I love his sound but I'm just a beginner and could never deal with the complexities of a PP. I appreciate the info.

I met Danny many years ago when he was playing pedal steel guitar, for Ray Price. He was playing an Emmons guitar, but can't remember which model. He was a kind guy that talked steel with me at sound check for about 45 minutes. He also played great guitar. I hope to see him again but Bakersfield is a long way from Nashville. Hope all will get to talk to and hear him play. Great person.
