A nice surprise

Post by Michael Sawyer »

Last night,a group I was invited to play some steel with was doing a private party, for a small(40+)but rowdy crowd.
After our first set,a lady came up to us,and asked if we would consider at some point in the evening backing Brandon Bailey for a couple of songs.
One of the guys knew of him and said of course.
Brandon is on Northstar Music label.
He is very humble,a super nice young man.
We wound up doing 15 songs,it went smooth .
We followed him,and had a blast.
Although he is not a headline act,it was pretty dang cool,as I had never played behind a recording artist.
I know many of yall have played alongside some big names,so yeah, today I'm kinda excited.
A milestone for me,playing steel at the 2 year mark in January, and getting told " you killed it man",by a guy that's rubbed elbows with big names.
Confidence boost for sure....

Very cool for you, Michael!

It sounds as if you've had a productive, almost two years becoming part of the instrument! and this can't help but be inspirational in your further development.

All the best,

Lance
