Does Clay Walker have a Steel Player

Post by Craig Bailey »

Anyone know if Clay Walker has a steel player currently touring with him?

Thanks

I was just doing some research and didn't see any steel player. I do know, there were four different steel players who have toured in Clay's band throughout his career. First steel player was Teddy Carr, who had worked with Jack Greene, then played in Clay's band, then Teddy started working with a songwriter named Tim Ryan until 1994, when he joined the group Ricochet. Then, there was Tommy Hannum, who'd played steel with Ricky Van Shelton (Tommy now plays steel with Wynonna), and around 2010, Eddy Dunlap was playing steel with Clay. If I remember right, Tim Sergent had played steel with Clay at one time

Thanks Brett for the info. Its unfortunate that Clay is not touring with a steel player. I am not sure how his songs can even resemble his albums without the sound of a steel player.

When I hear the music & it doesn't have a Steel in it, it better be dynamite or I never hear it again....
