In Charlotte, NC - misplaced/forgotten picks and bar

Post by Brett Lanier »

Mayday!

Just got to my hotel here in Charlotte, NC for a gig tomorrow at the US National Whitewater Center, and have discovered that I don't have my little bag with my bar and picks. I tranferred some stuff into different cases after our gig today for the flight and I guess I put it in the wrong place.

If there is anyone in the area that could help bail me out of this one I'd be so appreciative. I'd use anything at this point, but a 7/8" bar, national style finger picks and a blue herco would be perfect. My load in time is 2pm, Sunday May 26th.

Thanks forum!

Made it through the gig with a little Jerry Byrd sized tonebar, courtesy of Brett Crisp. He really saved the day! He just drove over to the hotel and dropped it off like it was nothing. Super nice guy.

I carry a spare bar and picks in my pack seat. They are in a separate area than my primary bar and picks.

I was thinking about this the other day, before Brett's mayday call. I think I'll do like Kevin, because although I'm pretty organised, well, you never know.

I already have a spare bar, but I don't relish the task of matching new picks to my existing ones :)

well just for posterity, I keep a spare bar and picks in the Van and I have my Dobro bar and picks in the gig bag which also comes to every gig.

The gig bar and picks remains in the SEAT while an additional bar and picks is in the practice room.

Ya just never know

I also play trombone and have spare mouthpieces everywhere. Never been caught out yet. Only difference is you can use those straight out of the box!

I can't help but point out that a spare bar and set of picks in your seat, or car, would do you no good in my situation! I will admit that my priorities might have been a little scewed for this gig. It being at the whitewater center, i might have been a little too concerned with how to fit my lifejacket, helmet, and sprayskirt in with all my music gear...

Also, It's amazing how useless a bar is without a steel.

Cold beer tastes much better when the bar has a steel guitar playing.
