Tyler Hall -What a great player (Tyler w/ Daryle Singletary)

Post by Mark Greenway »

I've heard you guys talk about Tyler Hall but didn't know much about him until I ran across this video. He's really good, and he's young. Here's some great lengthy footage of him playing. His right hand barely moves. Great technique and tone. So, what is he doing now?

Check out their version of John Anderson's "Black Sheep of the Family". RIP Daryle

I believe Tyler (aka "The Kid") is currently on the road with Aaron Lewis. When he's in town, he can be found backing some great singers down on Broadway. He is indeed a great plater.

Mark, thanks for the kind words. I’m staring down the barrel of the big 31 this August. Kinda hard to believe Roger (his daddy’s name is Mr.) was one of the guys that gave me that name 15 years ago now! Where does the time get? Anyway, I appreciate what you gentlemen have said.

Like Roger said, I’m always somewhere. Aaron Lewis offered me a job in June of last year that I finally couldn’t turn down anymore. It’s turned out to be one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. Aaron’s absolutely AWESOME to his guys and we work more than I’ve ever worked on a single gig. We normally do 3-4 shows a week and I usually do about that many more around Nashville every week. I’m usually playing somewhere around town Mon, Tues and Wed before leaving Wed nights.

In regard to Singletary, it’s a tough subject that most days I’m more than happy to avoid. I was supposed to finish my playing career with Daryle but it didn’t work that way. I’d found my musical soulmate. I’ve heard Emmons talk about how Ray Price was able to push him and he had a way of getting Buddy’s best from him. Daryle was my Ray Price. Working for Daryle wasn’t a job. Some nights it was so emotional, almost a religious experience. Many nights I’ve left the stage covered from head to toe in chill bumps. I still miss him just as much today as I ever have.

That was awesome Tyler, your words about playing music with Daryle. He left us way too soon in my books.

I agree with Paul. Tylers comments come from the heart and soul. I hope you make that connection again down the road. I'm glad you are getting the most creative gigs. Keep up the good work.

I still remember the first time Tyler's Mom & Dad brought him to a Branson function, he was a good player then, and was but a boy. Then Terry Bethel took him under his wing and the rest is kinda history. He's one of the best players I know.
We've been friends since the first time I met Tyler, God bless you and your family buddy.

Saying this about Tyler, I get pissed every time I go hear him play. I've chased his tone for years now. His approach makes me want to lock my doors and shut my blinds, and practice for days! But on top of that, hes a genuine dude and I value him as a friend. Theres a handful of people in Nashville that I can count on, and Tyler is #1.
