Who is the steel player?

Does anyone know who played the steel on Stonewall Jacksons Life To Go? I've been looking online but cant find anything.

I'll venture a guess that it was Don Helms.

Yes, Don Helms played on the original hit Stonewall Jackson version, in November 1958. He also played on the Webb Pierce version recorded only a month later. George Jones wrote the song in 1954, but he didn't record it himself until 1959. His version had no steel in it.
