Happy New Year, Everyone!

Last year when we launched the PFM streaming course I had no idea it would prompt so much interest outside the Pedal Steel Guitar community...Since then I was asked to be interviewed by some major league rockers. I truly believe without the online course exposure these opportunities were not on my plate.....

I want to thank everyone here who watched the most recent Guitar Power interview. It was great to finally show the relationship the steel has with an electric guitar player at Dweezil Zappas level...The greatest thing is this video interview is out there forever and is reaching a large musician audience...Most of which knows "little to nothing" about what is possible to play on our instrument.....As you can see, I am trying to promote the instruments capabilities to serious musicians in the most positive ways..

...At the PFM we inform them about the whole community as a source....We believe in the "all ships rise" theory.

This is the new course along with a big "Thank You" for helping spread the word about the new course...

Hi Paul,

I was gifted this course for Christmas by my boyfriend, Larry Robbins, a student in your original course. I got a sneak peek at it before it was launched and mentioned that I thought it would be well worth the cost. I was very pleasantly surprised when I got my welcome email on Christmas Eve.

Like you, I started playing lap steel with written music at 8 years old. Later, having no pedal steel teachers available, I learned to play pedal guitar via tab. And with that knowledge, a good ear and lots and lots of determination and patience, I did play in bands for a number of years, but never did learn the instrument as well as I would have liked to.

Working through this course, I'm finding some of it to be a good review and much of it to be a real challenge. It's exactly what I need to fill in those blanks and move forward. i highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn what this instrument is really all about.

Does the new beginner course also provide access to the Facebook group? Also, does it cover any levers, or just the pedals?

So far there isn't access to the FB group. I did see a number of lessons using the E-F lever.

There is a lot of information included in this foundations course. If studied seriously, you would learn a lot about where to find the music on your guitar without resorting to tab or using the hunt and peck method, which I have been doing most of my life. You can gain a lot of knowledge about music in general and how to apply that knowledge then to the steel. It shows why the steel is set up the way it is for forming chords, playing in pockets, using progressions, etc.

Hi Jamie-

The Facebook Group is reserved for students enrolled in the complete Method.

You can start out in Foundations, see if you find value in the lessons, and then at any time during your subscription apply the price to the complete Method. Everything in Foundations is also in the Method.

Paul does cover both basic pedals and levers in the Foundations course.

The course was designed to get beginners started off on the right foot, to help intermediate players identify and correct any bad habits they may have acquired, and for advanced players to re-visit the basic foundations of playing the guitar.

We can't say it any better than Lynn does:

Thank you Paul for putting Sharon under your wing. She learned a lot since we decided to join her to Paul Franklin Method. She corrected a lot of her mistake when playing. This will not be possible without the help of Paul Franklin Method and Paul himself for guiding Sharon to the right direction. More power to the group and looking forward for Sharon to learn more technique.

I fully recommend if you really want to pursue learning pedal steel guitar, enroll in the complete course to have access to Facebook Group. In FB group you will have a chance to ask question and interact with other students and also to Paul, they will give you suggestions and enlighten you if they can with what you don't understand ^_^ Regards, Grace
