Man! I wish I could make it over; I’m across the street until 2:30. Hoping they archive it.

Sonny Garrish is one of my all-time favorite studio musicians, playing steel and Dobro on many of the country records I grew up listening to! He's one of the musicians who made me want to play steel and Dobro!

that was great! thanks for sharing the link Robert
what a cool and humble guy Sonny is. and a fellow Marylander :)

he's among the very best but doesn't seem to get talked about quite as much as the other studio giants like Lloyd and Paul. great to see him getting his due today with what sounded like a rather large and distinguished audience (that included Lloyd and Paul!)

Fascinating! Thanks for that link, Robert.

It occurred to me as I listened to those recordings that, at the time, people were saying: 'This isn't country music any more - it's just pop!' Maybe so, but how I wish the charts were as full of good tunes today as they were in the '80s and '90s..

And Sonny Garrish - what a great, great player! His right-hand is remarkable. A real musicians' musician.
