Best pedal steel on country records
Hey everyone! I’m quite new to the pedal steel game and am wondering what everyone’s favorite records with pedal steel are? Preferably country.

Anything by Moe Bandy or Gary Stewart with Weldon Myrick
Anything by Mel Street or Don Williams with Lloyd Green
Anything by Loretta Lynn with Hal Rugg
Anything by Ray Price or Darrell McCall with Buddy Emmons
Anything by Red Steagall with Sonny Garrish
Anything by Conway Twitty with John Hughey
Anything by George Jones with Pete Drake
Anything by Asleep at the Wheel with Lucky Oceans
Anything by Ernest Tubb with Buddy Charleton
Anything by Patty Loveless with Russ Pahl
and many more... These guys have worked with all the best singers.

For some of the most tasteful steel guitar you ever heard, try this on for size. The whole album is overflowing with steel.

Hey Austin, I do not know how to put a link here for CD like Dick Wood did. But if you go to you tube and put in Curtis Potter name you will like. Also one of my all time favorites is this one. It has Steel and Fiddle all over it. Gary Carpenter on steel and Bobby Flores on fiddle. It is an old one but still can be found. It is pure country. Recorded in 2001. Good Luck, J.R.

Any of the songs off this album by Wanda Jackson. Ralph Mooney on steel guitar. Some of my favorite steel playing of all time.

Also this album of Wynn Stewart. Sounds like Mooney on it also.

I don’t know how I could have forgotten the Commander’s “ Hot Licks, Cold Steel, and Truck Drivers’ Favoritesâ€, with Bobby’s astounding steel playing.Jeff Garden wrote: Commander Cody "Live From Deep in the Heart of Texas" - Bobby Black steel Here's "Seeds and Stems" off that album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESHkgCSYa-4
Same with The Black Brothers “Pickin In A Skull Orchardâ€, which should be required listening for any steel player.
