San Fernando Califas, vato!
When the plane went down in 1959, what I recall as a 12-year-old living in West Hollywood was that RITCHIE VALENS HAS DIED was the Big News. To a lesser extent, the Big Bopper's death was the news because "Chantilly Lace" was a big hit on KFWB, my favorite r&r station at the time. But strangely I have no childhood recollections of Buddy Holly... oh well.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?
