Labor Day Weekend Shows

Post by Pete Burak »

I have always liked the premise Jimmy Buffet sets forth in "Come Monday" with the opening thought...

Headin' up to San Francisco
For the Labor Day weekend show,
I've got my hush-puppies on,
I guess I never was meant for
Glitter rock and roll.

I am playing the ump-teenth reunion of one of my party bands from the 80's.
Billy Waldo and The Flying Grizzlies!!!
We have a gig Sat night in Red Lodge, Montana ('sold out the local 110 seater), then a wedding reception Sunday afternoon.

How about ya'll???
Any interesting Labor Day Weekend Shows?! 8)

I'm playing Sunday night at the fabled "Waynestock" festival in Wayne, Alberta (near Drumheller, for those who know Alberta a bit) with Kimberley MacGregor (https://kimberleymacgregor.com) which is not exactly a country gig, or more accurately perhaps exactly not a country gig. I am always honoured when Kim asks me to play with her - she is a great person and the real deal. Looking forward to hanging with lots of musician friends while I'm there.

Not me. I'll be behind closed doors at the first band-call for 'Always, Patsy Cline' in Norfolk, VA this coming Monday.

My band has a local casino show Friday/Saturday of labor day weekend at The Red Wind Casino.

Have fun in Montana, Pete!

North Fork Music Park in Warsaw NY. 3 day (Fri-Sat-Sun) jam, camping on site. After 30-some years, word is this will be the last time.

That was a fun Labor Day weekend!

I keep my mighty-fine "Kline" S12U gigging-rig stored in Montana for these kind of trips :)
A woman came up to me between songs during the 2nd set, pointed at the Steel and asked (with a big smile) "What is this machine called?!"
I later learned she was visiting from Nepal.

This room was a lil stiff for us at first (we're a bar-room band, not a freakin' hotel band) , but it wasn't long before a good time was had by all!

We played "The Dark Side" in Zephyrhills. Great performance;standing room but totally lackluster audience, and way too much cigarette smoke for my taste. We had a guest fiddler sit in with us & she was awesome.
A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag.
