Any idea on the year of my guitar?

Post by Jeff Wamble »

I would so appreciate any help or input on my old push-pull. I purchased this year's ago from Scotty's music in St Louis but kind of confused on the year it is. Serial number is 2699 which according to the chart is a 1979. But it has bolt on necks? Can someone please chime in on this for me, thank you very much!

It's most likely a late 67. But it has 66 style pickup's. But pickups get changed. It's an invoice number guitar. You're a lucky guy.

Forgot to mention. The Carter chart is worthless on 66 till about 69 models. It omits all the invoice numbered guitars, which ran from around May 65 till around Nov 67. After 68 I've found the chart to be pretty close. Your mileage may vary.

Chris Lucker would know the answer. I don't think the invoice number guitars went too much higher than yours before they switched to the serialized numbers with a "D". I think that was early/mid '67. Chris has posted a lot on this topic if you do a search

I've owned a bunch of 64-67 Emmonses and I'm certain this is a '67 guitar, built before August of that year, since
#2719 was shipped August of '67. But the original invoices do exist somewhere.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Hi Jeff -

Although I do not own Emmons PP #2638, a D10 with Dual Coil Pickups, its original Emmons invoice, and corresponding shipping ticket for delivery to St Louis, found their way to me.

The Emmons Invoice, and corresponding shipping ticket, are both dated 8/7/1967.

Herb's info is spot-on.

Should someone in Forum-land own Emmons PP #2638, I have something you might like to have.

Regards,
Ron
