Shout out for John Widgren

Post by Chris Tarrow »

Just spent an afternoon with John Widgren, tweaked my setup, made some repairs, then we did a long lesson. If you are in the Northeast, and you don't know about this guy, check him out. Great tech, great teacher, great guy. And you get to look at his guitars....

Hey Chris...Thanks bud, it sure was fun! I appreciate the shout out! The pic is of my 85 Zumsteel which is an absolute cannon. I love it.

John - is it teal blue all over?

I can't explain why but I'd go into hock for a teal blue Zum D-10! Yours looks perfect.

PS: John Widgren is undoubtedly one of the main 'go to' guys anywhere. I'll always remember him as the first proper steel player that I met in the '90s when I first moved to the US. He was playing in NYC and knocking it out of the park!

Hi Roger! And happy New Year to you too..
You still have many friends up this way.

Yup the aprons are blue too. I'm not sure if its a teal blue, or possibly a Carolina blue, or maybe its called something else. I donno...

Its got original Zum pickups in it which are great, and very quiet for SC. I really love this guitar I think its pretty special..

Happy New Year.

I've received contacts from some, thinking the blue Zum is for sale. Please note that t is not. If it were, (it's not) I guess Roger would be the first call.... hahaha.
Best to all...JW
