Matchbox 7A, why two batteries ?

Post by Tony Prior »

I don't have a schematic but is two batteries really necessary over just ONE ?

has anyone ever tried converting one to use a 9V walwart ?

Tony,
My 1st guess is that it requires 18 volts. :D

Match Bro takes two 9V batteries. Runs on 18V. I have successfully run it on two bridged 9V channels from a VDL Pedal Power.

I would not think that you could get clean results from running these things starved at 9V (if you could get any output at all).

Tony,
I wouldn't worry about it, those two batteries last forever! :D

well that makes sense, 18V supply, without seeing the schematic I was thinking both the Volume and the Tone were two separate entities, but 18V makes sense. My guess would be it requires 12 or 15V total and the 18V is used to supply the total DC. 18VDC appears strange for electronics , but what the heck...

Erv, the batteries need to last much longer than forever, when I pass all this stuff down to grandchildren I don't want them to have to replace batteries !
