Rudy Osborne

Post by Keenan Friday »

It is worth giving recognition and mentioning steel player Rudy Osborne.Rudy was a fantastic steel player willing to help anyone he met. He was a great player always kind and I never thought of him as arrogant or prideful like alot of players can get that "know" this instrument.

However what stands out in my mind (and why I put this in the steel players section) is he helped found the central arkansas steel club. Had it not been for this steel club it would have more difficult to gain experience/improvement in this instrument.

See, I hear from different "covention" type shows I am priveleged to attend and play that it's good to see a young guy playing steel or who will carry on the steel shows.

But what we could use and don't have enough of are people willing/interested to start "monthly state club steel guitar meetings" that would promote closer distances for regional steel players getting started.

I live in south arkansas. And wish there were steel club meetings in northern or just louisiana. It takes alot of steel players coming together from a region and even talking to other clubs on getting a club started.

But I wanted to give my condolences to Rudy's family. And wanted to recognize for helping me get started playing my steel out when there was not hardly anywhere or anything to play. Thanks
