Rest well Al. You will be missed by oh so many, be it in the studio, bandstand or a picnic, you always made everyone around you feel welcome. Never failed to amaze me musically. RIP friend.

Al was one of the first really good musicians I played with when I first moved to SoCal in the early 70s and he remained a friend until the end. He played the same guitar for the whole time I knew him. A unique stylist and a good man.

So sad. Even after the big Northridge quake that knocked his Grammy's off his mantle and cracked his swimming pool, Al didn't care about the mess. He was always ready to jam and let pickers crash at his home. He was a "Picker's picker. I originally met him in 1980 when we both played with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

"Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."

We need to turn the TWANG up a little

It's not what you play through, it's what you play through it.

They say that tone is all in the fingers...I say it is all in your head :)

Some of the best pieces of life are the little pieces all added up..Ron

the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

Here's a picture taken at Ray Harrison's recording session in about 2008. Al, Ray, John Jughey, and Ben Brogden. Four greats, three of which have passed now. Al was a fine, fine person. His legacy stands as his monument.
