Good thing you only push down - "dow", actually - on it. (Isn't that a bit like having to walk to school and back uphill both ways?)

"...is where the two part go togeather. I do not think that matters becasue you are always pushing dow on it. "

yikes!!!!

"only the out case.. I do not know much about instruments"

ya, your right, you don't know much about instruments, or grammar, or spelling,
what a mess, that guy is a real piece of work.
When I read those lines I hear the voice of DeCaprio from Gilbert Grape in my head.

man I hope there are no spelling errors in this post...other than his.

While in the states, I ran across a book called the eciclopedia of country music... a recolections of country music artists with a short bio... even of the main side men. I couldn't resist to check the names that mean so much to us... Jerry Byrd was nowhere to be found BUT Buddy Emmons; A major influencial pianitst and keyboardist! There was even his picture... the one that graced one of his solo albums... with the rainbow going from one hand to the other (the hand laying on a ... guess what... a... yeah right a s t e e l g u i t a r.

I can't wait to see his personal concert piano to appear for sale on e-bay.

I don't understand any part of this thread. When I use my snare drum brushes on the C6th neck of my Sho-Bud, I control the volume with my Sho-Bud pedal. ...really simple. Image

It sure is easy to ridicule others, isn't it?
What happens when the shoe is on the other foot? Can we just laugh it off as nothing hurtful?
If I am wrong I'll accept your ridicule also. Anybody believe in "Do unto our neighbor as you would have him do unto you?"

My uncle had his "expression pedal" hooked to the horn -- I guess a lot of people do that.

I sure dig my Sho-Bud Drum pedal... I think the spring is busted, though... you have to rock back to get it back up again.

Quick note: "There is nothing electronic inside of this. only the out case.. I do not know much about instruments" So this is just the SHELL of a bass drum volume pedal, I guess... ouch, unless it's truly perfect, forty bucks for a pot pedal with no pot, and nothing attached seems sort of much, no?

Yes it is. Especially in this instance.

You get blisters.

Not from me, sir. Ridicule is for the ridiculas, not heartfelt sincerity.

We're just having some fun. The seller, who admittedly knows nothing, should have done SOME research. There's no excuse for attempting to sell an item on ebay by making up some cockabolly nonsense.

What if someone relies on this misinformation as the truth and buys this?

Actually, I'm going to send this link to the seller. He deserves to see this.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by HowardR on 17 July 2003 at 10:03 AM.]</p></FONT>

Unfortunately the joke about 'how do you know if the bandstand is level?--the drummer is drooling evenly from both sides of his mouth' is interchangeable with 'steelplayer'.

Ok, boys, heap on the abuse. I'm the proud owner of this vol/drum pedal. The guy is right down the block from me and hey, I love a challenge. After I restore it, I'll be sure to let you all know what CD I've used it on so you can zoom out and buy it right away.

Actually, if you think about it, we all used to love to run into guys like this 30 years ago or so, who were selling their brother's '57 Strat or Stringmaster so they could get some new golf clubs or whatever. It's not so different now, only it happens alot less frequently. Hey, I've got pots, jacks, wire. Now all I need is some official n.o.s. Sho-Bud string.

Yours Truely,

Artie Pufkin

Once again, The Steel Guitar Forum brings a customer to an EBay auction. While the responses here may have been rude, the seller found a buyer because of Forum exposure. If only I could charge him something for the service! Image Image

Actually, b0b, I wish it were so, but alas, it was not.

I'd been following this (and other) Sho-Bud-arama on Ebay and I just happened to log on here (for the first time in awhile) and read Jon Light's thread today for the first time after already purchasing this soon-to-be-gem of a drum item. I didn't even have to go to the link and I could tell instantaneously that they were talking about MY NEW PEDAL. Gotta go now and practice my drumming....

I also wanted to say that besides being cheap and cheerful, I decided to bid on the aforementioned item because of the courteous and promptly returned emails from this very pleasant seller. I've done the Ebay thing a fair amount and I could tell instantly that this guy is one of those 10-point-super-plus Ebay types, the kind that make you feel very comfortable in a transaction. Maybe that explains my overanxiousness on the bidding key (plus, no shipping, very nearby) but really for me, I just enjoy bringing older things back to useful life and that string winding thing is kinda the Rubic's Cube of the steel guitar world; it'll keep my otherwise senile self focused on the wonders of physics.

Bob M.

Whose hoarding all that n.o.s. Sho-Bud string?<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Bob Metzger on 18 July 2003 at 02:27 PM.]</p></FONT>

I've got a two-mile spool of the official Sho-Bud string. Autographed on the reel by Shot and buddy. $600/inch. Email for details Image

FWIW, I think Jon was amused just because it took someone who was neither a steelplayer nor a guitarplayer, nor a drummer, to make the assumptions involved in that ebay ad. It DOES seem like it was a fair deal for what it was ($100 pedal minus a twenty dollar pot, plus labor and the uncertainty discount)
