Sorry to hear about my friend Bob Chatfield!
Bob was really a great guy and great steel player. He was especially really great as a C6th player and worked several jobs with well known artists.
What always fascinated me about Bob when I would visit his store, was that he could really play the Thumb Style C6th Steel it was like the late Bobby Garrett did. I mean he could really play this style well! In fact, he worked a stint with Hank Thompson.
Just a Great guy and Great musician!
GOD be with his loved ones!

Bob was a delightful person to be around! He came and played at several of the jams we have had here in our home! He always made you feel welcome at his store! One time when I was at his store, he demonstrated one of those personal studios for me. So, I bought one and took it home and I could play my steel and not bother anyone else while I was practicing. I told Bob I was a little disappointed in the personal studio, because it didn't sound as good when I played through it as it did when he played through it. He got a big laugh out of that! Let's all remember his wife in our prayers! I'm sure these heart breaking moments are hard to contend with!

Bobby Chatfield Passing
We were sorry to hear that Bobby has passed on.
I worked a gig with Bobby in about 1959 in Moab Utah. A guy named Ron Christensen had a western band and 4 of us played. Bobby sure carried the show with that steel.
In the early 50's Bobby was taught to play a non-pedal by Clyde Worley, from Grand Junction (where I spent my 48 year working career). Clyde also worked in my band (Jack and the Kings) in 1958-60).
Spent a few good hours working and jammin with Bobby.
Rest in Peace old Friend!
