Windows not Genuine

Post by jolynyk »

I purchased Windows 7 professional for 3 computers last Feb..
I installed Windows 7 on my computer here in South Texas.. I then went back home to Canada in April & took the Windows 7 disk with me.. Got back to Texas & turned my computer on, & I get the message that I may be running a counterfeit copy of Windows, & Windows also did not pass a validation, same message with Security Essentials, & it has been shut down, also my screen is black...
WHAT HAPPENED????
I won't have access to the disk till I get back in April..

Assuming you have the holograph stitcher on your machine in Texas, meaning you have the product key on the case, you can call Microsoft and ask them to re-validate Windows. They may instruct you to change the product key on that machine.

There is a topic about this on Microsoft's Windows 7 forum. You should find your procedures there, or elsewhere on that forum.

Bringing up the validation tool offers a US phone number (or any other country) for verbal activation. You must have the hologram sticker or product key written down to obtain help from Microsoft. A receipt from the seller of the Windows DVD will be a big help.

what you can do is when it asks you to validate

Validate by phone
You can call a toll free number and it ll give you an bunch of numbers on your screen..

the computer on the other side of the line wil ask you to type the numbers shown on your monitor and end each phrase with #..

When your finished she will ask you about the number of PC's windows is installed on.. you choose one..

after that she'll give you some numbers you must type. then hit validate and your done.

I think that if you click on the balloon message about Windows Not Genuine, it will offer to solve the problem. One of the solutions is to phone Microsoft ant the phone numbers listed on a web page.

Problem is I left my disk & number in Canada, so they want me to buy another Windows 7... I already legally activated the Windows 7 when it was installed.. I read on another site that this is an ongoing problem, & I don't see why the onus should be on me to re-activate, when several people are having the same problem with Windows 7 de-activating,.. I also googled it & find that mine is not an isolated incidence.. If the Windows has a bug in it, I think Bill Gates is responsible for this not me. I don't have anyone to send me the disk or activation number.

Yeah, direct your dissatisfaction to Steve Ballmer.
I had to call MS one time to reactivate a copy of Windoze and it was pretty painless.

It's been a while since I did that, and I'm not sure what information I was able to give them, but I do remember it was a short call. It was an old computer that nobody had used for a while, and I don't think I had the disk or number or anything. You could give it a shot.
