Losing Internet Connection

Post by Paul King »

Lately I have been on the SGF looking at "steel on the web". I can open the topic but when I click the link for You Tube I get knocked off the internet. My screen goes back just like it was before I got on the internet. I have deleted cookies but just do not know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

How do you define knocked off the Internet? Do you actually see the networking icon in the Systray change to indicate it is not connected to any Internet source?

Or, is your browser losing its connection to the internet?

My screen just goes back to what it looks like when I turn the monitor on. There is nothing saying I am losing the connection.

Mine used to do that until I dumped AVG 2011 with all it's uninvited stuff that was dragging my computer down.

Do you mean the screen goes black, with no icons?

If so, do you have to reboot to see the Windows Desktop on the monitor?

This could be caused by a corrupted, or out-dated video driver.

Wiz, if I read him right, he'll be in the middle of something and all of a sudden the screen goes back to blue with all the icons showing as if he just moved the mouse to start his session. That was happening to me on Firefox and not IE. I noticed everytime my computer would got real slow, I would check my task manager and there would be all these AVG programs running, gobbling up everything. I first dumped Firefox, then dumped AVG and reinstalled Firefox and everything has worked smoothly ever since. I now scan with Malware Bytes every day. Don't know if this is exactly revelant to his problem, but it sounds similar.
